An Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) is a privately pooled investment vehicle that collects funds from investors to invest in assets as per a defined investment policy. AIFs in India are regulated by SEBI under the SEBI (Alternative Investment Funds) Regulations, 2012, and are classified into three categories: Category I, Category II, and Category III.
